Top 5 House Cleaning Hacks you Can’t Go Without

House cleaning can be such a chore. You wipe, dust, and vacuum away, but it just seems like there is never enough time to clean everything around the house. Plus, once you’ve finished one section of your home, it’ll be grimey again by the end of your home cleaning!

Instead of toiling over different home cleaning chores, here are our top 5 home cleaning hacks that will make house maintenance easier, faster, and more efficient! Save time, and have more energy to do the things you love!

Professional Cleaning Maintenance

You may be thinking that professional cleaning services would burn a hole in your pocket, but with part-time maid cleaning services, the cost of having your home professionally cleaned is much more affordable than hiring a full-time maid! Plus, cleaning companies typically perform background checks on their cleaners, and train cleaners to be knowledgeable in housekeeping.

Luce Home is a cleaning company that provides house cleaning services that range from part-time maid cleaning, to deep cleaning services for furniture and upholstery. You may need to look for a similar cleaning company around your area, depending on the size of your home, and the cleaning tasks you need done.

Dry Cleaning Hack

As a general rule, any fabric item that can’t be cleaned in the laundry machine can benefit from a weekly dry cleaning: like heavy curtains, rugs, and upholstery covers. Dry cleaning these fabrics can help reduce the amount of dirt trapped in them, as well as deodorize these fabrics from the smell of sweat, mold, or any other odor.

Just mix together two cups of baking soda, and 20-40 drops of your favorite essential oils. Take a big container that you can fit your fabrics into, and place your fabric items in. Sprinkle the baking soda mixture, close the lid of the container, and give the entire container a good shake, making sure to get the powder in every nook and cranny of your fabrics.

Remove the fabrics from the container, and dust away excess baking soda, or use a vacuum cleaner to remove the excess powder from your fabrics. The essential oils mixed with the baking soda acts as a magnet to trap dirt while leaving your fabrics with a clean and refreshing scent.

Mold Removal Spray

Contrary to popular belief, vinegar does not do a thing to disinfect any surface, so don’t risk wiping your marble countertops with vinegar! Vinegar, however, is highly effective for clearing out mold from your bathroom and tile grout.

Fill up a spray bottle with vinegar and water in a 1:1 ratio. Spray around areas where mold is present, and let the spray dry. Apply another layer of the vinegar spray, and use a scrubbing tool to brush away the loosened mold. Spray vinegar to remove soap scum from bathrooms as well, and to prevent mold from forming on constantly moist areas.

Easy Scouring Pad for Pots and Pans

One of our favorite hacks: a DIY safe and effective lemon scouring pad! Slice a lemon in half, and use one half to scour your pots and pans the safe way. Add some rock salt for a gentle abrasive action, and baking soda for those tough to clean spots. Your pots and pans will look as clean as new without the dangers of scratching off the non-stick surface.

Similarly, you can use the lemon salt scouring pad to clean your oven the same way. The acid from the lemon dissolves burnt food and grease stains, while the salt clears off the loosened grime. Baking soda adds another layer of cleaning power as it works to soften food stains that have hardened over time.

2-step Microwave Cleaner

Vinegar makes a comeback in this 2-step microwave cleaner! Mix together equal parts vinegar and water in a small, microwavable cup. Place the cup in the microwave, and let the microwave run for 2-3 minutes, making sure that the mixture does not overboil.

Take a gentle scouring pad (the lemon salt scouring pad works just as well!) and start scrubbing out the food stains and splatters around the microwave. Wipe clean and you’re done! A deep-cleaned microwave in just two steps: microwave, and wipe clean!
